Backyard Patio & Hillside Restoration

This project in Ridgefield, CT started when we were brought in to pick up where the home builder left off. The homeowners were dealing with ongoing drainage issues, as silt and debris from the hillside continually clogged the drain in the lower patio area, causing water to back up and flood the basement.

The hillside was difficult to maintain, and the lower patio wasn't a space the family could really enjoy. It felt disconnected from the rest of the yard and was only accessible through the basement.

As we began excavating, we uncovered beautiful natural bedrock surrounding the patio. That discovery allowed us to open up the space and create a much more inviting outdoor area. We improved drainage, reshaped the hillside, and added two new access points from the backyard, making the patio feel like a natural extension of the property rather than an afterthought.

The homeowners' family owns a railing company and will be installing the railings themselves to complete the project. We're proud of how this one came together—turning a problem area into a functional, attractive space the family can enjoy for years to come.
